Beatrice Wood, Born 1893 was an American artist and studio potter involved in the Avant Garde movement in the United States; she founded The Blind Man magazine in New York City with French artist Marcel Duchamp and writer Henri-Pierre Roché in 1917.[3] She had earlier studied art and theater in Paris, and was working in New York as an actress. She later worked at sculpture and pottery. Wood was characterized as the "Mama of Dada."
Beato did not like people up close to her but she allowed me to plaster her face to get a rough mold from which to create a ceramic sculpture of her at the age of 102 due in part to my friendship with Alan Hooker of the Ranch House.
Beato died within a week or two of her 105th birthday where we tango'd with champagne and otherwise made merry. AHO Beato!
